Your consumer credit rights
Where the Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA) applies, you may cancel a covered contract without penalty or obligation before midnight of the third business day beginning after signing. This right overrides ordinary non-refundable and end-of-billing-period cancellation terms. No seven-day billing-error deadline limits your statutory rights.
Covered services require a written, dated, signed contract and cannot begin before the three-business-day waiting period ends. Payment for an agreed covered service cannot be charged or received before that service is fully performed. A trial ending or a cancellation period expiring does not authorize advance payment.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you can dispute inaccurate or incomplete credit-report information directly for free. You do not need to buy our software to exercise that right. Do not submit information you know is false; accurate, current information cannot be removed merely because it is unfavorable.
This summary does not replace the separate statutory disclosure, signed acknowledgment, covered-services contract or duplicate cancellation notices. Creating a no-card account does not sign a paid-services contract or authorize a charge.
Consumer Credit File Rights Under State and Federal Law
You have a right to dispute inaccurate information in your credit report by contacting the credit bureau directly. However, neither you nor any “credit repair” company or credit repair organization has the right to have accurate, current, and verifiable information removed from your credit report. The credit bureau must remove accurate, negative information from your report only if it is over 7 years old. Bankruptcy information can be reported for 10 years.
You have a right to obtain a copy of your credit report from a credit bureau. You may be charged a reasonable fee. There is no fee, however, if you have been turned down for credit, employment, insurance, or a rental dwelling because of information in your credit report within the preceding 60 days. The credit bureau must provide someone to help you interpret the information in your credit file.
You are entitled to receive a free copy of your credit report if you are unemployed and intend to apply for employment in the next 60 days, if you are a recipient of public welfare assistance, or if you have reason to believe that there is inaccurate information in your credit report due to fraud.
You have a right to sue a credit repair organization that violates the Credit Repair Organization Act. This law prohibits deceptive practices by credit repair organizations.
You have the right to cancel your contract with any credit repair organization for any reason within 3 business days from the date you signed it.
Credit bureaus are required to follow reasonable procedures to ensure that the information they report is accurate. However, mistakes may occur.
You may, on your own, notify a credit bureau in writing that you dispute the accuracy of information in your credit file. The credit bureau must then reinvestigate and modify or remove inaccurate or incomplete information. The credit bureau may not charge any fee for this service. Any pertinent information and copies of all documents you have concerning an error should be given to the credit bureau.
If the credit bureau’s reinvestigation does not resolve the dispute to your satisfaction, you may send a brief statement to the credit bureau, to be kept in your file, explaining why you think the record is inaccurate. The credit bureau must include a summary of your statement about disputed information with any report it issues about you.
The Federal Trade Commission regulates credit bureaus and credit repair organizations. For more information contact:

The statement above reproduces the statutory disclosure in 15 U.S.C. § 1679c(a). Viewing this public page does not create a signature or acknowledgment record. For covered agreements, the disclosure must be delivered separately before signing; the signed receipt acknowledgment must be retained for two years.
Principal business address: 227 W 4th St., First Floor, Charlotte, NC. The printable notice is a blank form; use the deadline from your completed covered-services agreement. It is not a signed agreement or evidence that a customer-specific deadline has been calculated.
Contracts, notices and non-waivable rights
CROA-covered agreements must include payment terms and total payments, a detailed description of services and estimated performance time, the organization’s name and principal business address, and the prescribed conspicuous cancellation statement beside the consumer’s signature. Consumers must receive their completed agreement, required disclosure and documents they sign, and two copies of the prescribed Notice of Cancellation with the actual cancellation deadline and mailing address. General website terms are not a substitute.
Consumers cannot waive CROA protections. Any applicable state law providing additional protection remains in effect. Ordinary subscription cancellation stops future renewal; timely statutory cancellation ends the covered contract without penalty or obligation. Any amount that must be returned under applicable law is not subject to a discretionary refund approval.
FCRA dispute rights
FCRA dispute procedures are separate from the CROA cancellation period. Credit-reporting companies generally must investigate a dispute within 30 days, with certain circumstances allowing up to 45 days. These are reporting-company investigation deadlines, not a refund deadline or a promise that FixMy.Money can remove an item. You can contact the reporting company and the information furnisher directly.
